The scientist and researcher Elvira Fortunato was recently elected to join the Board of Directors of CESAER for the period 2022-2025. The Vice-Rector of Universidade Nova de Lisboa thus joins the group of twelve directors of “one of the most important and influential university associations in Europe”, according to information published on the Universidade Nova website.
The group of which Elvira Fortunato is part will be coordinated by Professor Rik Van de Wall, Rector of Ghent University, who has now been re-elected for a new two-year mandate (2022-2023).
CESAER is a European association, founded in 1990 in Belgium, which unites various institutions working in the areas of science and technology. The universities that integrate this group commit to values such as “excellence in higher education, training, research, and innovation”, fostering debate and contributing “to the realization of open knowledge societies”, which translates into a “significant scientific, economic and social impact”, according to information released by the Lisbon University, (which has been part of the collective since 2018).
