MUSIC4L-MENTE Concert Cycle with Scientific Preludes

Porto and Lisbon | Music | 11 and 12 november

On 11 and 12 November, Porto and Lisbon will host the opening concerts of the new cycle MUSIC4L-MENTE, respectively. The project explores the intersection between music and neuroscience in chamber music concerts with scientific preludes on the relationship between music and the brain.

Between November 2021 and June 2022, four string quartets of excellence – Michelangelo, Hermès, Cosmos and Gropius – will make their debut in Portugal to interpret reference works by great composers. Four internationally renowned guests and researchers will launch themes on the relationship between music (sound, noise) and the brain.

The four MUSIC4L-MENTE programmes take place in November, January, April and June in Porto, at the Monastery of São Bento da Vitória, and in Lisbon, at the Thalia Theatre.

MUSIC4L-MENTE is a partnership between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, the São João National Theatre and the DSCH Musical Association, curated by pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro.
