The University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, with the Portuguese Chestnut Association (RefCast) and the Portuguese Society of Agricultural Sciences (SCAP), will hold from 7 to 9 July, in the Aula Magna of UTAD, the fourth edition of the National Symposium on Chestnut.
The IV National Chestnut Symposium is an event about the Value Chain of the Chestnut Tree and the Chestnut, which has registered a 53% increase in its area, in the last ten years, according to the results of the 2019 agricultural census. The aim is to contribute to a more sustainable development based on innovation, the valorization of endogenous resources, and the protection of the environment.
The event seeks to find solutions that make the chestnut culture and the chestnut value chain, more competitive, sustainable, and resilient. Researchers, technicians, and producers will meet to reflect on changes in the context of climate, ecological and digital transitions.
